florida minimum wage increases - pollack pollack & kogan

It is important for employers to be aware that the minimum wage has increased to $8.10; this does not include certain tipped employees.  Because Florida’s minimum wage is higher than the federal rate, the Florida rate of $8.10 is applicable.  Employers that fail to pay the correct minimum wage or overtime wages to hourly wage employees may be subject to significant fines, as well as civil lawsuits.  Employees who are not paid the correct amount of minimum wage or overtime wages may sue employers under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).  The government notice for this wage increase is available at:  http://www.floridajobs.org/business-growth-and-partnerships/for-employers/display-posters-and-required-notices
